Literary Virginia Book Group | Ginter's Pope

Literary Virginia Book Group | Ginter's Pope Online

Read and discuss the best of today's Virginia literature—including books by Library of Virginia Literary Award winners and finalists in fiction and nonfiction. On the second Wednesday evening of each month, join a book group discussion online through Zoom at 6:00 PM.

This month we discuss a brand new Virginia author and book, Ginter's Pope, by John Musgrove. Lewis Ginter's influence on post-Civil War Richmond is with us today in the Jefferson Hotel and the botanical gardens built in his memory, The Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens, and many other extant sites. Ginter was one of the founding investors in the power company and oversaw many of the infrastructure needs of the capital city. Ginter's Pope is a fictionalized account of Richmond's reconstruction genius and his beloved John Pope and the city they loved.

John will be joining us to discuss his book!

Published by QuarterMile Press in June of this year, copies of the book may be acquired from Richmond's own Book People book shop and in other book retailers. For more information, contact Nan Carmack at nan.carmack@lva.virginia.gov or 804.692.3792.

This is a free event. Registration is required. The zoom link and password will be automatically sent to you in an email upon registration. Thank you!
