Research Workshop | Introduction to Research

Do you want to learn how to do research at the Library of Virginia, but don’t know where to begin? Join Amanda Morrell, senior reference archivist, and Annie Hatton, reference librarian, for a new workshop. Learn about basic research strategies, useful websites (including FamilySearch and Ancestry) and how to effectively use AI tools. Participants will take a tour of the Library and receive hands-on experience with records and resources in our collections. No experience is necessary. Plan to arrive early to sign up for a Library of Virginia card at the circulation desk before the workshop begins.

This event is free, but registration is required. Limited free parking is available underneath the Library at 800 East Broad Street and is accessible from 8th or 9th Streets. For more information, contact education@lva.virginia.gov.
