Don’t miss this special evening with Senator Tim Kaine, who will discuss his new book, Walk, Ride, Paddle: A Life Outside, a captivating memoir that blends adventure, reflection and political insight. In 2019, Kaine — Virginia senator and former Democratic vice presidential candidate — commemorated both his 60th birthday and his 25th year in public office by undertaking a three-part journey over the Virginia landscape as he hiked, cycled, and canoed across the state. His chronicle became an organic reflection of the extraordinary events occurring in America during that time, including two impeachment trials, a global pandemic, growing racial protests, the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol and more. Kaine pulls back the curtain to reveal his inner thoughts during such monumental times.

A book signing will follow the talk.

The Carole Weinstein Author Series supports the literary arts by bringing both new and well-known authors to the Library of Virginia through online or in-person events. Free and open to the public, the series focuses on Virginia authors and Virginia subjects across all genres. This book will be available at the Virginia Shop.
