First Fridays at LVA | Virginia Stories: Underground Art

First Fridays at LVA | Virginia Stories: Underground Art

Join us for quarterly First Fridays at the Library of Virginia! View a display by Virginia artists, enjoy refreshments, and get creative in our makerspace. You can also explore our current exhibition and visit the Virginia Shop for books and gifts.

September’s theme is Underground Art. A subculture of art, underground art includes artistic expression beyond the conventional boundaries of the mainstream art world, such as graffiti or street art, tattoo art, comic strips and zines. View related items from our collections and explore the theme by creating your own zine in our makerspace.

Limited free parking is available underneath the Library at 800 East Broad Street, Richmond, VA

Artists may respond to the call for art entries for September’s event here. For more information, contact Nan Carmack at 804.692.3792 or nan.carmack@lva.virginia.gov.
