Make a Zine for Archives Month

Make a Zine for Archives Month Online

Make your own zine for Archives Month! Join us for a family friendly virtual event and learn three zine-folding techniques from Jen Thomas, Book Arts Program director at the University of Richmond. You will then select a zine format and make your own! Select from a list of provided prompts or pick your own topic to explore. Zine-making packets, which include preprinted reproductions of archival images, glue sticks and wooden craft sticks for folding, are available for pickup starting Oct. 3 at the following locations: Library of Virginia (800 E. Broad Street, Richmond, VA); Virginia Museum of Fine Arts Library, located on the first floor of the VMFA  (200 N Arthur Ashe Blvd, Richmond, VA). The packets are not required; you’re welcome to print your own images for collage, draw or doodle, and use any additional craft supplies. We’ll conclude with a show-and-tell of your zine creations!

This program is part of the MARAC (Mid-Regional Archives Conference) Virginia Chapter’s October Archives Month celebration. Find more information on the Archives Month 2023 webpage and the Zines and Self-Published Materials LibGuide.

Programming assistance is provided by the Friends of the Virginia State Archives, a 501(c)(3) organization. Visit them at friendsofvirginiaarchives.org.
